POSC/EEA-CPS/56959/2004– Super High-capacity Optical Transmission Systems – SHOTS Open position for Graduate / Master Degree Students in Electrical and Computer Engineering or similar fields Summary: Instituto de Telecomunicações – Pólo de Lisboa is selecting Graduate / Master Degree Students in Electrical and Computer Engineering or similar areas, for a grant in the context of the project POSC/EEA-CPS/56959/2004 “Super High-capacity Optical Transmission Systems” supported by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia. The work consists of the study of advanced modulation formats for ultra-dense wavelength division multiplexed systems, and will start on 1st September 2007. Profile: - programming skills in MATLAB - sound background on optical communication systems. Candidates with previous experience in advanced modulation formats for high speed optical communications are most welcome. Admission procedures: Interested students should submit to Prof. Adolfo Cartaxo (email: adolfo.cartaxo@lx.it.pt) a detailed curriculum vitae in PDF format, including completed relevant courses specifying texts, if applicable, and description of prior research / project work. Selected candidates will be eventually asked for an interview, to be scheduled with the candidate. Grants will have duration of 4 months, with eventual continuation depending on the student’s work.
