Abstract
A cellular planning optimisation algorithm - the Algorithm of Coverage
Iteration with Traffic Partition - is presented, proposing, through a mixed
structure of micro and macro cells, an optimum cellular planning for the
coverage of an urban environment with a real (non-uniform) traffic distribution.
The results of the algorithm, micro and macro cells radii and estimation
of cells location in the service area, are obtained in order to minimise
the number of base stations, guaranteeing a maximum blocking probability
in every cell. A cellular planning tool that implements the algorithm,
Nebmin, is described, and used to propose an optimum planning for Lisbon,
by evaluating different criteria of real GSM traffic data.
